Welcome  Let's Get Started...

Thank you for your interest in the Centre for Belonging and Understanding.

Our mission is to help you and your group, community, or workplace create a culture of belonging and understanding -- an evidence based approach that is grounded in research and lived experience.

We would love to be your trusted partner on this journey … and support you and your company in cultivating and curating a deep sense of belonging and understanding.

YOU know the amazing potential of your people! That's why you hired them. WE know how to unlock latent human potential and turn it into reality. That's why companies hire us.

To help you start your Belonging and Understanding journey, please take a minute to answer a couple questions.

This will help us design the right, detailed program.

Then, we'll be ready to support you and your people to develop the skills they need to belong and understand themselves and others; to improve communication and psychological safety; and to create a world beyond demographics, where difference is celebrated and deep connection formed. At a human level.

“[Reality] is not neat, not obvious, not what you expect.”

— C.S. Lewis (1898 - 1963)

Programs We Offer

"Raise Our Ambition" TrainingA 10 session virtual (or in person) experiential training on cultivating and curating belonging and understanding in a world where DEI* training is no longer effective.

*DEI - diversity, equity and inclusion training is now seen to be a tick-box exercise. Lived experience and corporate and academic research shows that programs such as 'unconscious bias training' are not effective in instigating behaviour change. The ROI Experience is the answer.

Belonging and Understanding Team or Group Coaching - Work with one of hour belonging and understanding coaches to explore how and your team you can move forward in the complex space of diversity, equity and inclusion. We will support you to cultivate a space at work (and at home) where a sense of belonging and understanding is beyond psychological safety. You and the people around you will feel more settled as a result.

Personal Belonging and Understanding Coaching - Our programs use an evidence-based experiential tested and proven approach to achieve belonging and understanding, that builds on decades of research, and more recent explorations of identity, intersectionality, power dynamics and paradigm shifts. Unlike other coaching programs, the agenda and focus of our coaching meets the client where they are and provides a supportive, safe space to discuss some challenging topics. In addition, each session is followed up with an intensive bespoke worksheet that not only reinforce the session topic, but also allows the client to reflect more deeply on the topic using video, written, and audio material available in the public domain (as well as some specialist tools created by the Centre). Ultimately the goal of BU Coaching is to help clients “cultivate and curate a deep sense of belonging and understanding.

Convening Conversations - Let us work with your organisation or team to instigate a conversation regarding belonging and understanding. Using our evidence based collaborative approach you will unlock the conversation within your community in relation to diversity, equity and inclusion. We will work with you as partners to support the leadership team (our co-conveners) and the participants to enable a greater, and nuanced understanding of this space.

““Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”

— Steve Jobs (1955 - 2011)
